Czech Republic with its wealth of historical monuments should also have many historical gardens. Indeed, there were many in the past. Some were swept away by era of romantic parks and quite large proportion vanished during the Communist rule when gardens were totally neglected.
Luckily the gradual change came and only now you can see the work on several important Czech gardens almost complete. Parks are no less interesting and we will see a few large parks that have very good reputation. The gardens are mostly not large by size and not so intricate or ornamental as those in south of Europe. But they are in many cases well preserved and show the original ground plan typical for countries north of Alps.
